The VMA’s have always been a source of inspiration for many young people looking for fashion tips. This year was no different. At this years VMA’s people were paying attention to what the stars were wearing.

Though, this year people were paying more attention to Kanye West, people were still looking at what the young starlets were wearing to the VMA’s.

First up, Beyonce. She was wearing a sexy Roberto Cavalli red dress with Cescare Paciotti pumps. Rumor has it that the total of all her jewerly was 1 million dollars. Not unusal, though. Beyonce has been known to dress quite well for award shows, and the 2009 VMA’s were no exception.

Interestingly enough, there were two stars at the VMA’s that were dressed really, really similarly. In fact, they were wearing the exact same dress.The most intriguing part was that the celebrities were from two completely different backgrounds. Pink and Shakira. It’s quite odd that you’d see two different celebrities from two different genres wearing the exact same dress. Anyway, the pictures from the event are below. Who do you think wore the best dress?

Personally, I think the dress was a better choice for Shakira than P!nk. The dress was a mini Balmain. Part of the reason I think it was a better choice for Shakira rather than P!nk is the thigh-high boots Shakira decided to wear with the dress rather than the heels P!nk wore. P!nk’s legs need a little bit of work, and the way that the Shakira wore thigh-high boots added to the overall feel of the dress.

Katy Perry Workin' It

Katy Perry really surprised a lot of people at the VMA when she showed up. Personally, I wasn’t expecting very much, so when she arrived with a Blonds mini. I was really, really shocked. Normally, Katy doesn’t go that far into the flirty realm, but I really enjoyed the way she wore the dress.

The dress is very, very flirty. The heels were a nice touch too. I was especially drawn to the red under the heels. It blended in with the red carpet very nicely, and almost gave the illusion of her feet floating off the ground a little bit.

Kanye and Hennessy. Classy!

The last celebrity I want to put the spotlight on, is Kanye West. This celeb is about to launch his own line of clothing later this year, and eventhough he had a rather unfortunte outburst during the VMA’s he dressed quite appropriately.

If you ignore the bottle of Hennessy, Kanye was dressed quite well. It was more of a, casual, but thoughtful appearance. The boots he was wearing could have been a little less loud, but everything matches, and he wasn’t trying to do too much with it. Kanye looked like he was just enjoying himself. And that he certainly did at the VMA’s.

Kanye Acts a Fool

If you have payed any attention to the news at all lately, then you’ll know that the VMA’s happened just a few days ago. Now, normally, this is nothing to talk about, but this year, something especially interesting happened. Something that’s never before happened at an awards show. I’ll give you a quick recap:

It was time for the Best Female Video award. The nominees were Beyonce, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Kelly Clarkson, Lady Gaga, and P!nk. After letting the tension build up, Taylor Swift wins the award. But, that’s just the beginning. Normally, at one of these award shows, when someone wins the award, they usually just go up on stage, act like they had no idea they were going to win, accept the award for the video they have had no creative input in, give a prepared speech, and hop of the stage. Rinse and repeat for six or seven catagories and you have an award show.

But, this award ceremony would be different. As Taylor Swift was giving her award speech, someone in the crowd thought a little differently as to who should have won the award. Someone with opinions so strong, they felt they had to be expressed onstage at that very moment Taylor Swift was giving her award speech.

That person was Kanye West.

Kanye West was so bold as to go up onstage during Taylor Swifts acceptance speech and say this, “Yo Taylor, I love your video, but Beyonce’s video is the best video of the year!”; gave the mic back to Taylor, and hopped off stage like nothing happened.

Taylor Swift then just sat there in total disbelief, wondering if what she thought just happened, just happened. The quick answer is, yes, yes it did. However the fact remains clear that Kanyes interruption was very rude, yet bold, and both of the stars will receive a boost in the spotlight because of this.

And to add a little irony to the situation, Beyonce actually did win best video of the year, and invited Taylor Swift back up on stage to share her moment with her.

After Kanye left the stage, it was reported he just left the VMA’s and went home. Later that night, this post was left on his blog,

“I’M SOOOOO SORRY TO TAYLOR SWIFT AND HER FANS AND HER MOM. I SPOKE TO HER MOTHER RIGHT AFTER AND SHE SAID THE SAME THING MY MOTHER WOULD’VE SAID. SHE IS VERY TALENTED! I LIKE THE LYRICS ABOUT BEING A CHEERLEADER AND SHE’S IN THE BLEACHERS! …………………… I’M IN THE WRONG FOR GOING ON STAGE AND TAKING AWAY FROM HER MOMENT!…………….. BEYONCE’S VIDEO WAS THE BEST OF THIS DECADE!!!! I’M SORRY TO MY FANS IF I LET YOU GUYS DOWN!!!! I’M SORRY TO MY FRIENDS AT MTV. I WILL APOLOGIZE TO TAYLOR 2MRW. WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD!!!! EVERYBODY WANNA BOOOOO ME BUT I’M A FAN OF REAL POP CULTURE!!! NO DISRESPECT BUT WE WATCHIN’ THE SHOW AT THE CRIB RIGHT NOW CAUSE … WELL YOU KNOW!!!! I’M STILL HAPPY FOR TAYLOR!!!! BOOOYAAAWWWW!!!! YOU ARE VERY VERY TALENTED!!! I GAVE MY AWARDS TO OUTKAST WHEN THEY DESERVED IT OVER ME… THAT’S WHAT IT IS!!!!!!! I’M NOT CRAZY YALL, I’M JUST REAL. SORRY FOR THAT!!! I REALLY FEEL BAD FOR TAYLOR AND I’M SINCERELY SORRY!!! MUCH RESPECT!!!!!”

It was quite the interesting post he made. Wether or not he was actually feeling sorry, remains to be determined. I suspect that Kanye is partially sorry, and partially just satisfied that he got his opinion across. Luckily, Kayne works pretty hard and has some good talent, or the media would have crucified him by now.

The morning after the awards, all the morning news shows were talking about the situation, but no one seemed to be completely enraged. It was almost like they wanted to be surprised about what Kanye did, but deep down inside they realize they couldn’t be or something. Also, that night on the Tonight Show, Kanye came out and apologized again.

I wonder what’s in store next for Kanye.
